Call for Participation

I didn't make up the idea of imaginary friends -- I encountered it, or in some ways it found me. As I share my ideas about the imaginary, so too do I hope you will share your visions of the imagination with others in the community. This portion of the Imaginary Friends project is dedicated to featuring the imaginary friends of others.

To participate, create an artistic rendition of your imaginary friend and write a short description of the way you think about the imagination, friendship or the relationship between the two. You can submit this information in the form below (and upload your file) or you can can send a digital picture and your statement to me at ted_hiebert@yahoo.com. All contributions to the project will be exhibited in the public archive of works. Please specify if you would like your work included in the installation in Victoria, BC, Canada or at the University of Washington Bothell. Viewers are invited to download the AR app and visit the imaginary friends captured by other participants. See the link "To view the augments" in the menu for more details on how to experience the AR portion of the exhibition.

Submission of artwork assumes that you are the artist of the work submitted and that you authorize me (Ted Hiebert) to include your work in the Imaginary Friends project. Copyright remains with you (the artist) at all times, though I reserve the right to present your image as part of the Imaginary Friends archive. If you have questions or concerns about the use of your image, please just email me at ted_hiebert@yahoo.com.
