What is it like to be a bat?

Participant: Alissa Turnbull

Q: When you think of bats, what first comes to your mind?

The echo-location is very interesting to me, also the sleeping upside down. As far as I know, those are unique to just bats. Are they more comfortable upside down?

Q: You just spent a period of time imagining what it is like to be a bat. What did you imagine?

Mainly I imagined flying around, when night was growing all around me. I was alone and I imagined all the trees and the smell of the forest. I imagined flying into a bush to get food, and seeing some other bats every once in a while, doing the same as me.

Q: During the time you were imagining, were you somewhere?

I actually imagined that I was at my grandma and grandpa's house, since they have around 10 acres of land and it has a small forest on it that we used to play in a lot. I've seen bats when night was approaching, flying around.
