Biographical Statement
Ted Hiebert is a Canadian visual artist and theorist. His artworks have been shown across Canada in public galleries and artist-run centres, and in group exhibitions internationally. Recent exhibtions include The New Gallery (Calgary, AB), Deluge Contemporary Art (Victoria, BC), the Comox Valley Art Gallery (Courtenay, BC), the Siauliaia Art Gallery (Siauliaia, Lithuania). Recent collaborative projects include "Eidola" (Open Space Arts Society, 2009) "Electronic Shamanism" (InterAccess Electronic Arts, 2009) "The World Telekinesis Competition" (The Ministry of Casual Living, 2009; Deluge Contemporary Art, 2008) and "Dowsing for Failure" (Open Space Arts Society, 2007). Hiebert's theoretical writings have appeared in, among others, The Psychoanalytic Review, Technoetic Arts, Performance Research and CTheory, as well as in catalogues and exhibition monographs. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the journal CTheory, and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences at the University of Washington Bothell.
